Dolores M. Mertz College Scholarships

Kossuth County Democratic Party Chair Steve King announces the Kossuth County Democratic Party Dolores M. Mertz College Scholarships. The first two of these scholarships will be awarded in the Spring of 2023. The purpose of our county political party is to achieve concrete results that make our community a better place to live, work, and raise our families. In that spirit we name the scholarships for Dolores Mertz, who, as our Iowa State House Representative for 22 years, provided the kind of selfless public service and leadership that has achieved so many beneficial local results for us. The Student Application for the scholarship will include an essay, “My role as a citizen in a participative and representative democracy.” A base of funds is already in place for two scholarships of modest but serious amounts. Further contributions are invited to increase that base and establish the scholarship for future years.
